چکیده

Large scale Monte Carlo simulations have been used to study long-time domain growth behavior in a compressible, two-dimensional Ising model undergoing phase separation. The system is quenched below the transition temperature from a random spin state, and we investigated the late-time domain size growth law, R(t) = A+Btn. For “lattice mismatched” systems, we found n = 0.224± 0.004 which deviates significantly from the Lifshitz-Slyozov value of n = 1/3 for late-time growth . For a compressible model with no mismatch, we find only a slight deviation from n = 1/3. These results strongly suggest that we do not yet fully understand domain growth.

Magnetic Properties and Phase Transitions in a Spin-1 Random Transverse Ising Model on Simple Cubic Lattice

Within the effective-field theory with correlations (EFT), a transverse random field spin-1 Ising model on the simple cubic (z=6) lattice is studied. The phase diagrams, the behavior of critical points, transverse magnetization,  internal energy, magnetic specific heat are obtained numerically and discussed for different values of p the concentration of the random transverse field.

What Do Monte Carlo Simulations Tell Us About Compressible Ising Models?

Monte Carlo simulations have begun to illuminate the nature of phase transitions and universality classes for compressible Ising models. A comprehensive analysis of a Landau-Ginsburg Wilson hamiltonian for systems with elastic degrees of freedom predicts that there should be four cases with different behavior, depending upon symmetries and thermodynamic constraints. We shall describe the result...

Introduction to Schramm-Loewner evolution and its application to critical systems

In this short review we look at recent advances in Schramm-Loewner Evolution (SLE) theory and its application to critical phenomena. The application of SLE goes beyond critical systems to other time dependent, scale invariant phenomena such as turbulence, sand-piles and watersheds. Through the use of SLE, the evolution of conformally invariant paths on the complex plane can be followed; hence a...

Continuous Versus First Order Transitions in Compressible Diluted Magnets

The interplay between disorder and compressibility in Ising magnets is studied. Contrary to pure systems in which a weak compressibility drives the transition first order, we find from a renormalization group analysis that it has no effect on disordered systems which keep undergoing continuous transition with rigid random-bond Ising model critical exponents. The mean field calculation exhibits ...
